Information for Artists wishing to Exhibit in The Pocket Gallery

To make enquiries about placing a piece of artwork within The Pocket Gallery, please email folkestoneharbouryarn@yahoo.com.

Gallery Dimensions & Display Space
The gallery is 15cm wide, 12 cm deep and 13.5cm at its highest point. Please note that it is an attic space so the roof slopes on both sides. It has an oiled wooden floor with white walls & ceiling. There is a small strip of daylight coloured lights which can be operated by viewers using a waterproof button on the front of the structure. This is battery powered. We have a 12cm high easel for displaying mini canvases or drawings. You can place objects on the floor, suspend them from the ceiling or attach them to the walls if you like. We also have two 10cm square clear acrylic cubes which can be placed inside the gallery with objects around or inside them. The walls and perspex window can be drawn on if they are wiped clean/repainted at the end of your show. Alternatively you could line the walls with card to create a different space.

Sale of Artworks & Commission
The Pocket Gallery charges no commission on artworks displayed, if sold. Your items can be N.F.S. if you prefer. It is really just a bit of fun for the creative community so there is no pressure to put monetary value on items within.

Security, Weather & value of Artwork.
The gallery is securely sunk into the ground with concrete, and the back door is secured with a padlock. There are some security cameras around the old high street and Payers park, but none pointed directly at the Gallery/Library. The gallery & garden are overlooked by flats, offices and restaurants which provides some deterrent for antisocial behaviour.

The gallery/library structure is weather resistant with a solid roof, painted in weatherproof paint, sealant around the front window, and foam weather seal around the rear hatch, however I would not recommend placing a high value, sentimental value or fragile item on display within as if somebody took it upon themselves to damage the gallery/library there would be very little to stop them. As the gallery is just a bit of fun for the local community there is no insurance for artworks and therefore all items placed within are "at your own risk". Sorry :(

The Gallery is now booked up until late November 2021. We will notify artists again when gallery slots open up.
